I begin most mornings with meditation, connecting to what I call Source Energy or Divine Intelligence. For me, this isn’t religious. It’s simply a quiet moment to feel connected and invite inspiration for the day. What once felt optional now feels essential. The noise and uncertainty around us are too great to start the day without grounding. Even fifteen minutes helps me hold my center, focus on where I can make a difference, and lead with love instead of fear.

We often forget that spirituality connects to social justice.

Once we have a heart for social justice, no federal policy can take that away. Whether our work is directly tied to equity or not, we are social justice champions, carrying this lens into everything we do. We question systems, advocate for justice, and support communities affected by historical wrongs, even when doing so feels harder than ever.

And yet, who is caring for us in these heavy times? How are we being nourished mentally and spiritually?

Many of the social justice leaders we admire were grounded in spiritual practice. This includes figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi, as well as local organizers we have had the honor to work with, whose presence and clarity inspired those around them.
