Systems Change Training and Capacity Building for Philanthropy

Funders are in the unique position to create transformational social change. It is possible to work at the direct service and the policy and systems change levels at the same time. This overview for foundation leadership makes the connection between grant making practices and sustainable systems changes. It provides a framework for thinking that can help the foundation incorporate systems thinking and practices to advance their cause.

Organizational Capacity and Sustainability Planning

Engage in customized processes that result in a co-created sustainability plan for the entire organization, based on where you are now. Learn what funders are looking for in an organization. Complete an organizational assessment focused on governance and management practices. Identify any gaps your organization may have and establish a plan for addressing those gaps. Thoughtfully determine how your organization is or wishes to be connected to larger social issues that funders care about, and how you are living your purpose, mission, and values. Explore visions, pain points, and guardrails. Co-create a plan that aligns with your mission and vision, identifies capacity and funding needs, and establishes timelines, roles and responsibilities for aligning with the right funders.

Strategic Planning and Plans that Allow for Emergence

Participate in a highly inclusive and collaborative process to develop a living, inspirational, customized strategic plan. Or, if your organization is moving fast in an environment that is changing, it may be more appropriate to develop a plan based on values and larger goals that allows for emergence.

Meeting Design and Facilitation

Let us design and host an impactful convening to meet your organizational goals or overcome pain points. With your input, we will design engaging activities for your team that result in an action plan customized to your organizational objectives.

A plan is only as good as its implementation. On-going support ensures your plan moves forward and gets results. Coaching benefits new Executive Directors as they meet the challenges of becoming oriented and starting off on the right foot, Boards as they oversee or implement plans, fund development specialists as they write grant proposals and implement plans, and collaboratives as they move through collective impact plans.

Health Equity Training

Health Equity – This general Health Equity training makes the connection between equity and health. Participants learn the difference between upstream and downstream approaches, how to view our work within a larger systems context, and how to frame our work in ways that support communities most affected by inequities.

LGBTQAI+ Health Equity – A critical component of any Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program is LGBTQAI+ health equity. This training helps your organization promote belonging and inclusion at the individual, policy and systems levels to improve health for all.
